We started the day getting family photos taken. Osamu wore his suit. I wore my new snowman necktie with my Brooks Brothers winter sweater. Kenzo wore his kindergarten uniform. Eri was her usual fabulous self.
Those photos will be ready in a few weeks. They're good. I can't wait to share.
That was at 9 a.m. By 10 we were done and the adventures were just getting started. The boys and I dropped Eri off at the subway so she could go downtown and meet her friend for lunch, then we headed to Wakabayashi Ward to play at the traffic park.
Kenzo and Osamu love the traffic park. We usually go to the other smaller one in Kawauchi, closer to downtown, but I like this bigger one in Wakabayashi because there's more space for the boys to run amok and play and ride bikes. Plus there's a walkway around the perimeter so I can get my steps in while keeping an eye on things.
The biggest issue is getting the boys to eat. They get so wrapped up in their play that they forget to eat and end up getting suddenly grumpy.
After a couple of hours of serious play time we headed over to Sendai Station to pick up Eri, made our way home through Saturday afternoon traffic, took a quick nap break (well, the boys did anyway), and then we hopped on the bus and the subway back downtown for the Sendai Pageant of Starlight.
Eight years ago Eri and I went on a date to this event. It was freezing cold and I was losing hope that this girl was interested in me.
Fast forward to tonight and here we are at the same event, on a night much more hospitable temperature-wise, with our crazy boys.
After this full, full day Eri and I were running out of steam. The boys kept getting more and more energetic, especially after a subway ride and pizza in Izumi Chuo before catching the bus home. I ordered a steak and a beer (and one more beer after that) and finished off the pizzas because the boys couldn't eat it all, probably because they had donuts downtown.
Wow!! What a wonderful day! ❤️
