Eri has been really proactive lately about taking the boys down to the library and one of their favorite play rooms. She told me she wants to give me some quiet time, which I am of course very grateful for. Even just a couple of hours makes a huge difference in my mental state. Every day is non-stop from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I doze off at the dining table trying to get some reading in.
Last night and this morning, though, Eri wasn't feeling so well. She's over-exhausted. She was in bed at 8:30 last night and even after ten hours of sleep she was still lookin' pretty worn out this morning. I told her I'd take the boys out, but she refused. I should have insisted, but I didn't. Like when there's just one slice of pizza left and you offer it up but the other person politely turns it down and you know if you ask again, "Are you sure?" they'll totally snatch it up.
Eri went upstairs to the bedroom and slept a little while the boys and I played in the living room after breakfast and tooth brushing. They knew they were going out to play at 9 but they just didn't know if it was gonna be with mama or papa or both.
Osamu was busy building a bullet train line and Kenzo was writing letters again. He loves writing letters to his friends at school, but he usually does that on weekday evenings and mornings, when it's on his mind. This was Sunday morning, so I was kinda curious what he was writing. It was in Japanese, so I figured he was writing a letter to mama again.
He wrote to Osamu this time. A first.
Kenzo and Osamu speak with each other in English about 70% of the time, but I know Kenzo is more confident writing in Japanese than English. Thus, the zany zigzag Japanese letter to his little brother. You have to read it left to right, then right to left, then left to right, and then right to left again.
He wrote, "To Osamu, From Kenzo. I love you and you are so funny. Let's play in the tatami room."
