Eri and the boys were out all morning in Izumi Chuo. They had lots of library books to return and the boys were super excited to play in the playroom while mama attended her mama meeting. There's this group meeting held regularly sponsored by the local government for mothers to get together and talk about stuff. I love that Eri goes. I know she probably talks about me and that's good. Or maybe she doesn't and I'm being narcissistic assuming that she does. Either way, it's her time to talk about motherly issues with other moms and a counselor who understands.
Spring is here, though it's Miyagi so the cherry blossoms are still sorta sprouting and the tops of the surrounding mountains are still white. The breeze after the morning chill is perfect.
After starting work early and pushing through way past noon I took a late lunchtime walk. A long one. I had a meeting with the customer support manager at 13:30 but I figured I could get some good steps in and still make it on time. I did. With one minute to spare and sweating and panting a bit. I think she could tell. Luckily I have this weird personality where I feel self-consciousness but just don't care. I have this odd DNA, for sure from my dad, where I don't feel weird in situations where normal people would feel weird. It has both helped me and hindered me. Mostly helped. But man those hinder times were tough. That's for another blog.
Eri always makes magical meals. She can take simple elements and create a feast. Tonight was miso ramen with side dishes of kimchi and spicy greens. Osamu had a few bites of my kimchi again. He thinks it's spicy. At some point we're gonna take a family trip to Korea and he's gonna eat the real deal and he's probably going to be upset at how spicy real kimchi is. Or maybe not. He's a budding foodie.
One of the boys' favorite books recently is The Polar Express. They keep extending the library checkout, but at last some other nice boy or girl finally requested it so we had to return it. Eri decided to buy our own copy off Amazon, and it arrived today. The package was kinda smaller than we expected and it turns out you gotta really double check the dimensions of things in the product description. Think Stonehenge in Spinal Tap.
The library book was around A4 size, but the one that came from Amazon was more like B5. I thought it was fine. Kinda small, but still the same story and the same beautiful illustrations. Easier to hold. Eri looked at me with that face that says, "Seriously?" while holding the book up to accentuate its diminutive size.
So she returned it. If we're gonna buy books we love, go big or go home.
