I cherish simple Tuesday night dinners with my family. Eri hasn't been feeling well the last couple of days but she's still working as hard as ever to take care of our house and cook amazing food. Tonight she made this radish salad with mayonnaise that was unbelievable. I gave Osamu a taste. He loves trying everything, and he usually likes everything. Tonight not so much. I think he has a thing about mayo.
Eri drove to the kindergarten for a parent-teacher meeting after lunch where she learned that Osamu is more like me than we thought. Apparently he is methodical about the process of everything when it comes to getting ready for things like recess time. His teacher said he has to put everything away and get everything in order before he can confidently head out to the playground.
Around 13:35 I invited Osamu to walk with me to go meet Kenzo on his way home from school, but the invitation was declined. He was watching his favorite Netflix show Little Angel.
So I headed up the block on my own and hid around the corner as Kenzo and Hidekazu came walking down the street. They were carrying on like only little boys can - laughing and saying silly things and stopping to point at curious stuff like potato bugs and leaves. I heard Kenzo say something about his papa but I couldn't get the details. Oh well.
When they parted ways Hidekazu headed up his street and Kenzo waved and said, "Bye bye nasu."
Nasu means eggplant.
Hidekazu waved back and said, "Bye bye shumai."
Shumai is a Chinese dumpling.
I never ever feel like I want to go back and relive my younger days. But today I kind of felt a little something.
There was some drama this morning with Kenzo leaving for school so I ended up driving Osamu to the bus stop instead of Eri. He found a pine cone and wanted to take it with him.
He really is a lot like me in that everything has to be an ordeal.
